In a significant development amid ongoing hostilities, Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 115 prisoners of war each, facilitated by the United Arab Emirates. This marks the first prisoner exchange since Ukraine's unexpected incursion into Russia's Kursk region earlier this month. The swap, confirmed by both nations and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, underscores the UAE's pivotal role in mediating prisoner releases since the conflict's inception in 2022. Over 1,788 prisoners have been released through UAE's mediation efforts, including those exchanged in this latest operation. The exchange occurred as Ukraine celebrated its third Independence Day since the escalation of the conflict with Russia.
